Nine members of the US House of Representatives, accompanied by seven Committee Staff, toured the SECI Center today, on a fact finding mission being conducted in several European countries, including Romania.
Led by Chairman Representative John Duncan, Representatives Jim Oberstar, E.B. Johnson, Solomon Ortiz, Cliff Stearns, Corrine Brown, Henry Brown, John Boozman, and Jeff Miller were briefed on the mission and the role of the SECI Center in coordinating the law enforcement agencies efforts to combat transborder crime in South Eastern Europe.
Majority of the Congressional Delegation are members of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. Additionally, two of them are members of the Energy and Commerce Committee and the Armed Services Committee (Military Affairs).
The US Congress representatives expressed satisfaction that SECI Center had established a specialized Task Force to meet the challenges of Container Security in the region.
The Task Force targeting Container Security was set up in November, 2005 and it will start being operational this year.
