Moldavian Minister of Interior visited the SECI Center

Moldavian Minister of Interior, Police General Lieutenant Gheorghe Papuc, was hosted by the SECI Center in Bucharest on Thursday, March 23.

The Director of the SECI Center, Mitja Mocnik, briefed the Moldavian Minister on the ongoing developments undertaken by the SECI Center in order to upgrade its operational capabilities, and to adopt a new legal framework, in compliance with the European Union standards.

The SECI Center management expressed its appreciation to the Moldavian law enforcement agencies in the common efforts to combat cross-border crime such as trafficking in human beings and illegal migration, trafficking in stolen vehicles, financial and computer crime etc.
Minister Gheorghe Papuc highlighted the significant contribution of the SECI Center in fighting trans-border crime in the region and ensured the SECI Center management of the continuing commitment of the Moldavian police authorities.

In this context, the recent initiative of the SECI Center to establish a joint Working Group bringing together law enforcement agencies from the Republic of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine targeting organized crime under all its aspects in the SECI region was underlined as an important further step marked by the SECI Center.

Minister Gheorge Papuc was in Bucharest on the occasion of the Seventh Meeting Ministers of Interior/Public Order of the Member States of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation and took the opportunity to visit the SECI Center.
